Let’s hear it for the sunshine

After what has seemed like one of the longest, darkest winters , I woke on Sunday to sunshine streaming – yes that sunny- through the window and hardly a breath of wind.

Perfect running weather.

Was running with Alison and Linda and this time over at Kirkliston, so new location, good company and sunshine. We did a 4 mile circuit of the village including a couple of hills and my legs felt good.

Alison and  Linda had other plans for the rest of the day, but as the weather was so lovely , and conscious  that I need to get my mileage up with the Inverness half only 28 days away, I decided to do another run in the Dell.

Was going to do a short 2 mile out and back to take miles up to 6 , but once out in the woodland path with birds tweeting, lots of fellow runners and no recurrence of injury, I did just over 3, making it 7.14 miles for the day – well over half of a half marathon ! albeit with breaks. But I have now managed to run for 3 days without any ill effects on my leg so so feeling a bit more optimistic that I can get myself ready to do 13.1 on March 17.

I am going to rest today and try some intervals on Tuesday, then fit in a longer run later in the week.

Later N and I did a couple of hours tidying the garden , nice to get outside and I think keeping moving definitely helped. Clearing winter debris is a good way to get in some hamstring stretches and some other essential exercises, although today I do have  some new gardening aches.
