It’s 100day challenge season

It’s June and so that means only one thing, no not the FIFA World Cup, it is 100daysprojectscotland challenge time !

The 100daysprojectscotland challenge is one where you commit to a daily creative task for 100 days from June 1st to September 8th. This is my third year of taking part and in previous years, through participating, I have found it mostly enjoyable and as a novice, it helped me to feel more confident with my drawing, and of course regular practice helps with any skill you are trying to develop.

You can find out more about the background to the 100days project here

Initially, I was not sure whether to commit to this again after two previous times, not least because I was struggling for a project theme, and having done it twice before I realise that 100 days of doing anything can be quite a slog!

But on balance, I thought it would be good for me to get back into drawing by having the discipline of creating something daily.

As a ‘veteran’ I know I need to keep it simple and not get too hung up over slight deviations from the plan or the quality of output.

I have chosen the project title ‘A daily drawing of joyful things’ which I hope allows me to widen subject scope beyond flowers, although I imagine they will feature heavily ( being the joyful things they are 🌸)

The challenge for me will be to draw joyful stuff I can’t draw – so brace yourselves for lots of eye bleeding attempts at perspective or more vases and vessels whose shape defy physics.

Day1 weigela

As with many endurance events you start full of optimism and hope, have a weary slump in the middle and cruise through those final days with elation, and with a rose tinted view of the whole experience ☺️

I will be sharing my daily drawings on Instagram @marob23 and hopefully updating on behind the scenes angst and of course joy here.
