Beyond the half way point

Wild flowers in a brown jug

It’s day 64 of this 100day art challenge – that’s got to be a good thing ?

Well yes, except on this third time of taking part it does feel as if I am bumbling along with no clear direction more so than before.

Red pepper

Part of this bumbling is due to me making my project too wide in scope which I thought would be easier, might offer me a different challenge after two years of flower drawings, and make me try to draw things I find hard to draw.

Pottery chicken
Flowers in a glass vase

In some ways this has worked, but I do keep reverting to the relative ease of flowers and the ordered / thematic part of me finds the jumble of vegetables, cups, plants etc a bit discombobulating.

A working life spent in marketing strategy where its key to know what your product or proposition is, and who your audience is can be hard to shake off .

See also a tendency to overthinking !

I do have to keep reminding myself that the main point of this for me, is to commit to a daily practice of creativity, which as I am currently in a new phase of my ‘working’ life – semi retired and transitioning from the daily grind gives me a structure of sorts.

Bag of scampi fries
